I was having a conversation with someone this week about diets. The topic of eating organic came up and then I was told that according to this person's horticulturalist friend, organic foods in America are allowed to be sprayed with non-conventional chemicals that can also be very toxic. Now three years ago, I would've "freaked out" and spent hours on the internet trying to find out what's safe to eat. After our conversation though, I just stated that I'm doing the best I can trying to obey YeHoVaH and using information I learn along the way to come out of "Babylon" and that's the best I can do. I don't ever want to live in a place of fear. Are there things I should be aware of? Yes, but I take it one day at a time and implement changes along the way and my goal is to do it with the peace of YeHoVaH. If He takes care of the lilies of the field (Matthew 6:28), He's taking care of me. All I have to do is seek first the kingdom of YeHoVaH and His righteousness, then be faithful to do it and let Him take care of the rest.
Last week's teaching was truly profound for me because Marcus was able to beautifully articulate this principle of what I've been dealing with for quite some time. This is not restricted to a diet, but the idea of weeding out man's folly that surrounds truth. I remember having a hard time figuring out what to do when I got truth and non-sense from the same source. Do I dismiss the rubbish and take the truth? Well, in a sense, yes, but what Father has lead me to see is that I need to be mindful of what I'm subjecting myself to. In the day to day grind of modern life, I can forget the spiritual influence tied to just about everything. There literally is a war going on for your mind and if we live carnally, we will skip right over this fact. With all of these voices and causes before us, we have to keep in mind where all this originates from. It's often man's attempt to solve problems that are caused because man has not submitted to YeHoVaH's words. Now do I need to align myself with a particular cause because I agree on a few of its tenets? I'd rather not and people love labels so as soon as you label yourself, then you can be claimed. Well, I aim to align myself with Messiah and not man's wisdom because man's wisdom reeks of rebellion. This spirit of rebellion and blindness towards YeHoVaH's will is very pervasive and we have to constantly take an inventory of what we align ourselves with.
In the modern food world, a spirit of fear competes with faith in the provisions and protection of the Father. We fear not having clean, chemical-free water and food to eat. This is a valid concern, but fear is not the answer. If we are living obedient to His Word and allowing Him to lead us when He speaks, then we must trust that He will provide. If He's revealed to you about staying away from this or that, then it's in your best interest to do that. Listening to man's wisdom about things will have us rejecting things meant to be received with thanksgiving and accepting things intended for exclusion. Many health trends of today do just that too - eat this, don't eat that, etc. Like mentioned in the teaching, having a preference is absolutely fine as long as it isn't turned into a commandment or artificially injected into Scripture. If you haven't seen it in Scripture explicitly or implied in other ways then you have to wonder where it came from. Father's commandments covers a wide variety of subjects that still apply today and still make sense. If we can just get that right, all this other "stuff" would just become things of the past. So it makes more sense to me to subject myself to His will and everything else will fall into place. Let's not be lead by the spirit of man or fear, but by the Spirit of the Almighty. He is sufficient above all to guide and protect - so let's let Him do what He does best.
