Some time back, at House of Israel U.K, during one of our Sabbath services, I taught a lesson called ’Exploring the Gospels - Yeshua’s Redemption’.
This teaching series has bridged the gap between the writers of the gospels mind and those of the readers, by establishing the same standards of interpretation that the writers would have used - the scripture itself.
As such when we arrived at Luke 2 in verse two we read:
Luke 2:22 22 And when the days of her purification according to the law of Moses were accomplished, they brought him to Jerusalem, to present him to the Lord; 23 (As it is written in the law of the Lord, Every male that openeth the womb shall be called holy to the Lord;) 24 And to offer a sacrifice according to that which is said in the law of the Lord, A pair of turtledoves, or two young pigeons.
What we came to learn on that day is that Yeshua was redeemed in accordance to the scriptures.
Exodus 13:1 1 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 2 Sanctify (qadash kä·dash’ H6942, to consecrate, sanctify, prepare, dedicate, be hallowed, be holy, be sanctified, be separate) unto me all the firstborn, whatsoever openeth the womb among the children of Israel, both of man and of beast: it is mine.
Exodus 13:11 11 And it shall be when the LORD shall bring thee into the land of the Canaanites, as he sware unto thee and to thy fathers, and shall give it thee, 12 That thou shalt set apart unto the LORD all that openeth the matrix, and every firstling that cometh of a beast which thou hast; the males shall be the LORD’s. 13 And every firstling of an ass thou shalt redeem with a lamb; and if thou wilt not redeem it, then thou shalt break his neck: and all the firstborn of man among thy children shalt thou redeem (padah H6299, to ransom, redeem, rescue, deliver). 14 And it shall be when thy son asketh thee in time to come, saying, What is this? that thou shalt say unto him, By strength of hand the LORD brought us out from Egypt, from the house of bondage: 15 And it came to pass, when Pharaoh would hardly let us go, that the LORD slew all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both the firstborn of man, and the firstborn of beast: therefore I sacrifice to the LORD all that openeth the matrix, being males; but all the firstborn of my children I redeem. 16 And it shall be for a token upon thine hand, and for frontlets between thine eyes: for by strength of hand the LORD brought us forth out of Egypt.
Because YeHoVaH slew all the firstborn in Egypt, both man and beast, all that open the matrix, the womb of both man and beast belongs to YeHoVaH - they are holy. The firstborn of beast is sacrificed in accordance to the commands, and the firstborn males of Israel’s children are to be ransomed, delivered, redeemed. This serves as a sign, a token of memorial, in both your actions and thoughts as to what YeHoVaH has done for you and promises to do for Israel in times to come.
It was after this teaching that it became clear to me that although we believe in the laws of YeHoVaH, until the right measures are in place to facilitate obedience to the law then those who would be zealous to obey them won’t.
So I wanted to give you the opportunity to redeem your first-born. The process is quite simple and I am happy to walk you through it.
